But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
II Thess 3:3

Are you trusting God wholeheartedly – all the time?

King Asa did what was right in the eyes of The Lord as King David had done – I Kings 15:11. Asa’s heart was fully committed to The Lord all his life – I Kings 15:14.

King Asa loved God and showed his love for God by removing the idols from the whole land and repairing the altar of God. He also put to death all who did not seek The Lord and went after other idols. This was something to be admired about him because all the kings before him had gone after idols and forsaken God.

But towards the end of King Asa’s reign we see how his relationship with God was broken (II Chronicles 16). When King of Israel tried to attack Judah, Asa King of Judah made a treaty with King of Aram by sending him silver and gold to attack Israel. God was not pleased with this behavior of King Asa and told him that he has done a foolish thing by relying on King of Aram rather than God Himself.

Many a times we face a similar situation in our lives. We may have resources who can help us stop something from happening or make something happen or at least that is what we think. When we face a difficult situation are we looking for that resource or are we going to God? Recently I was facing difficulty with a work I wanted to finish by day end, so I messaged and called up all whom I thought could help me with this issue. But as evening came, I lost hope of finding any solution. Suddenly I remembered this incident about King Asa which I had read few days back and went to ask God for help. Before I went to bed I had the solution in hand. It made me wonder why didn’t I look to God for help first before looking at others?

This is most of us these days. We look to God only when it is prayer time, sunday service or other fellowship gatherings. We are also ready to give as much offering as we can and help those in need. But when we need help are we looking to God or men? God loves it and is extremely happy when we look to Him in times of need. When a Child turns to a Parent for help, even maybe opening a toy box, Parents feel very happy knowing their Child looks to them when they need help. Our Heavenly Father is likewise joyful in us when we trust in Him wholeheartedly and look to Him first.

  1. Very nice thought. Practically relying God in all our situations is what God expects from us. Really good.

  2. The most relevant question asked!
God’s relevance in this speedy world can be expressed only when we wait on the Lord and trust his help.
    Well said.
