But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
II Thess 3:3

What’s your bag of gold? Matthew 25:14-30

In the ‘Parable of the Bags of Gold’ from Matthew 25:14-30, we see how each servant was given different number of bags of gold. When the master returned from his journey, each servant had to give an account of what he did with the bag of gold that was given to him. The servant who received 1 bag of gold hid the bag in the ground and gave it back to the master when he was asked an account. The master responded saying ‘You wicked, lazy servant’. The servant was called wicked and lazy for not investing and making a profit for the master.

Likewise, each of us have received some number of special blessing in our lives for which we are accountable to God. Being able to sing and play music for spiritually uplifting others, blessed with a job to earn and help those in need, have an opportunity and ability to help those who are under privileged, being able to afford a good education and other courses so that you can use it in future for the benefit of others, blessed with children whom we have to bring up in the fear of God and not for our benefit, have a space to arrange prayer meets when in need, and so much more…

If we use these blessings only for our benefit and not for the benefit of others, and if we are lazy to put in the effort because of our busy life, we will be called a ‘Wicked and Lazy Servant’.

Let us look into our lives first and figure out the blessings we have which we can use for uplifting others. Make changes in your lifestyle as needed. Always remember, we are accountable for every blessing we have.
